The story begins when Earth was not a place suitable for life. Mesh was the first. In his fish form, he emerged from the water onto dry land. He climbed a tree and remained there for a long time before transforming into a being resembling a monkey. This atanukan, passed down from generation to generation, explains the creation of the Innu people in their history.
